WHAT TO EXPECT
A Meet & Greet usually goes like this:
- It starts with an overview of paperwork, history, and health with the dog parent.
- After the overview, you will be guided through a tour of the facility, so you know where your dog is playing.
- Once complete, your pup joins our team for an evaluation to observe how they react when away from their pet parent.
- If your dog passes the evaluation, your dog can stay for the day to play and make new friends!
- Our team will then share what they learned with you. If for some reason the dog is not yet ready for group-play, we recommend steps that pet parents can take to address the observed concern(s). Any dog that is not yet comfortable in group-play, is welcome for Boarding, Daycare, or Grooming as a “single.”
VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
Vaccines protect from contagious and potentially deadly viruses, which means less risk of dogs getting sick. Boarding & Beyond requires all dogs to be up-to-date on the following vaccinations:
RABIES
Rabies is required once puppies are 16 weeks, and sometimes before. They are required to be boosted again a year later, and then every three years going forward. Dogs are required by law to be vaccinated against the rabies virus, which can spread to humans.
If an unvaccinated dog bites and breaks the skin of a person, the laws require that the dog be quarantined for a minimum of 10 days.
DHPP/DHLPP
DHPP/DHLPP (also known as “distemper orparvo), is required once puppies are 6–8 weeks old. A booster is required once again a year later, and then every three years going forward.
BORDETELLA
Bordetella is usually given every six months, and helps prevent the spread of canine cough. It will also lessen the severity of vaccinated dogs who acquire canine cough. Canine cough is very similar to the common cold in humans with mild coughing and sometimes a runny nose. Symptoms usually resolve within a week.
K9 influenza is not required but highly recommended if provided by your veterinarian.
